The inspiration for 70s comes from the deconstruction of the traditional table archetype. The legs of the table are positioned away from the corners, forming smooth stripes that gracefully transform into arcs. This unique design not only adds visual interest but also ensures optimal support for the tabletop.
In addition to the deconstructionist approach, 70s draws inspiration from the artistic movement of cubism. To fully appreciate the table, one must explore it from all angles, as it reveals different perspectives and dimensions. This nod to cubism adds an element of intrigue and dynamism to the design.
What sets 70s apart from other tables is its commitment to the aesthetics and statics of the seventies. The table's shape and form reflect the iconic design elements of that era, making it a true statement piece. The arcs that support the tabletop are not just decorative; they are a testament to the meticulous study of statics and balance.
The realization of the 70s table involved a combination of different materials. The prototype was crafted using various types of wood, including MDF for the tabletop, bend wood, and soft wood for the legs. However, the production version of 70s utilizes a special material called Adamantx, which is a blend of mixed polymerics materials.
Available in two dimensions, 260 cm in length, 110 cm in width, and 75 cm in height, or 180 cm in length, 70 cm in width, and 75 cm in height, 70s offers versatility to suit different spaces and preferences.
Designed by Cristian Sporzon, 70s is the result of extensive research and creative exploration. It was first conceptualized in 2012 and later prototyped in 2014. The table made its debut at a private event in Lugano, Switzerland, called "La vita, il tempo vissuti come Arte: arte e design a 360." In 2015, 70s was selected to participate in the Design Event called MAD at the Hotel Nhow Milano.
Despite its unique design, 70s faced challenges in finding a manufacturing company that believed in the vision and was capable of producing the prototype. However, these challenges were overcome, and the table now stands as a testament to the power of perseverance and innovation.
As a winner of the prestigious A' Design Award in 2019, 70s has been recognized for its well-designed, practical, and innovative qualities. The Iron A' Design Award is bestowed upon creations that meet professional and industrial requirements while integrating industry best practices and competent technical characteristics.
With its blend of deconstructionism, cubism, and seventies style, 70s is a table that not only adds functionality to a space but also serves as a work of art. Its unique shape and thoughtful construction make it a standout piece that captures the spirit of the seventies while offering a contemporary twist.
